Well, what a year it’s been for motoring enthusiasts! 2023 has certainly delivered some incredible moments on the road, and the Autocar team has been lucky enough to experience some of the most thrilling automotive highlights of the year.

And the new Land Rover Defender V8 has shown that off-road capability doesn’t have to mean sacrificing luxury and speed.
On the racing front, we were in awe as Lewis Hamilton secured yet another world championship in Formula 1. His relentless drive and unwavering commitment to excellence have solidified his status as one of the all-time greats of the sport. And who could forget the nail-biting battle for the championship in the World Rally Championship, where Sebastien Ogier and his Toyota Gazoo Racing team emerged victorious after a season of intense competition.
We’d be remiss not to mention the incredible advancements in autonomous driving technology. The Audi A8’s Level 3 autonomy and the BMW iX’s advanced self-driving capabilities have shown that the future of motoring is rapidly approaching.
And finally, the Autocar team had the privilege of attending some unforgettable car shows and events throughout the year. From the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance to the adrenaline-pumping Goodwood Festival of Speed, there was no shortage of opportunities to revel in the glory of all things automotive.
